From February 12 to 15,  Dominic Goodall and Kenji Takahashi attended the Three-Day International Conference on Mahabharatain Literature and Tradition, held at Sree Sankaracadharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, Kerala.

Dominic Goodall delivered an inaugural lecture titled “The Mahābhārata among the Khmers,” while Kenji gave a talk under the name “Why Are Mahābhūtas ‘Large’?: Early Investigations on the Elements of the World Found in the Bhṛgubharadvājasaṃvāda of the Mahābhārata.

 

For Kenji, this was his first conference in India and it was a good opportunity to get to know Indian scholars who share his interests in ancient Indian epic.

Kalady is also known as the birthplace of Śaṅkara. Some PhD students from SSUS kindly took Kenji to Śrī Ādiśankara Janmabhūmi Temple and several other temples.
