In the framework of the Śivadharma and Dharma Projects we held several group readings of Sanskrit and Tamil texts at the École française d’Extrême Orient, Pondicherry Centre, from July 22nd to July 31st. On this occasion, a group of scholars active on the two projects as well as others who were just visiting the EFEO at that time read from the Bṛhatkālottara, a Tantric Śaiva scripture dateable to the 11th century, chapters 17 (on the gaurīyāga) and 37 (on śānti); from the Śivadharmottara, a ca. 7th century Śaiva work that is one of the main focuses of the Śivadharma project, chapter 11 (on prāyaścitta); from the Civatarumōttaram, the 16th century Tamil translation/adaptation of the Śivadharmottara, of which we finished the English translation of chapter 1 and began that of chapter 11; from the Tiruttaṇikaippurāṇam, a Tamil Talapurāṇa of the 18th century that contains a compendium of the Civatarumōttaram in its chapter 9; from the Pre Rup inscription K 806, the longest Sanskrit kāvya from Cambodia (298 stanzas), dated to 961-962 CE, under the king Rajendravarman.
